Good afternoon,
Ahh! We have received some rain! It is a blessing indeed. It came soft and gentle. Today is cloudy, mildly cool and calm.
Gardens have been cleaned out and the crops are in storage. Seems like things have slowed down and settled in for the coming winter.
This month’s ladies sewing day was cancelled because one of the ladies in charge hurt her shoulder but is doing OK.
We hosted a family gathering on Saturday with 59 people in attendance. The noon meal consisted of dinner rolls, chicken bacon ranch casserole, taco rice casserole, salads, veggie dish with peas & carrots and dessert was pumpkin cake, gingerbread cake, baked apples in maple sauce & ice cream. The boys enjoyed a lively game of corn hole in the PM.
The events in Mt. Hope have slowed down. Folks are planning for Thanksgiving Day, etc.
Here is the recipe for the Baked Apples:
Fill a 9”x13” pan with peeled, cored and halved apples. In a 3-quart saucepan heat 4 cups of water and 2 cups of maple syrup. In a small bowl mix 3 heaping tbsp Perma-Flo, 1 tsp cinnamon and enough water to mix thoroughly. Slowly add Prema-Flo mixture to hot liquid and stir constantly until mixture is smooth and clear. Pour over apples and bake 1 hour or until apples are soft. Let cool. Top each apple half with a tbsp or more of sweetened whipped cream.
May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving season. “Let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9
